Trenchers
Trenchers launched in March 2010 as a chain of deli sandwich bars offering freshly made buffet lunches and coffee in busy city centres and business parks.
Briefed by a consortium of stakeholders to research brand names and branding for a new chain of sandwich and coffee bars that communicated a quality deli offer.
Following the naming research we undertook, a number of names were presented to the consortium. Trenchers was a clear choice and this was ultimately due to the substance that could be derived from its historic past - a trencher was the forerunner to today's sandwich in the middle ages.
We chose a hand drawn font for the brand identity which emphasised the handmade approach of food preparation and colours were selected to harmonise with a newly implemented interior scheme for the stores.
The brand was then rolled out across signage, menus, packaging, vehicle liveries, workwear, and point of sale. We also managed the trademarking of the brand to ensure the client's investment in this key asset is protected going forward.
