Sustainable
A lot of companies talk about being green but we do more than that. For starters, we generate our own electricity courtesy of a 3.8KW solar panel array on the roof of our Henley in Arden offices. In addition, we work for an increasing number of clients involved in renewable energy. We'll only use recycled paper or that from managed sources wherever possible. We also take a fresh approach to design to see if we can reduce paper use or even cut it out altogether. We also use waterless inks for print work using a unique process for high quality environmentally friendly projects.
If projects can be produced near to where they are needed, we do that too.
Green hosting from HTDL
We are proud to now rely solely on renewable energy to host the majority of client websites. At HTDL we believe in a sustainable society for all and that every business has a role in this responsibility. We have therefore made a strong commitment to fight pollution and preserve our natural resources. HTDL's main data centre now uses wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS).
The use of renewable energy technologies reduces hazardous greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional power plants.
We use energy efficiently
We not only strive to use clean energy, we also endeavour to use energy as efficiently as possible. In our data centres, they currently run some 40,000 servers which consume between 50 and 60 Gigawatts per hour (GWh).
For years, our data centres have been using energy highly economically, with less than 20 per cent heat loss – one of the best figures in the industry. As soon as the outside temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius, the data centre is cooled using open-air coolers that work without energy-consuming compressors.
By hosting with HTDL, you choose an environmentally sound and sustainable future and directly support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions that come from conventional power plants.
On top of all these very green credentials, we encourage our clients to use their consideration for the environment as a positive marketing strategy that supports a more earth-friendly future. Our approach is good for them, good for us and better still, good for the environment.
