My work is abstract and expressionistic, each painting is a response to the way I feel, both physically and emotionally.
Colour is a major inspiration for the work. Colour stops me in the street, invites me to breathe it in and take it with me.
Colours resurface as I paint, as do past and present experiences. I am able to manipulate the colour and present moods, from initial automatic gestural marks into a balanced composition.
Although I draw from life I am not content with recognisable imagery. I prefer a more ambiguous picture plane, a surface which the viewer can project their own experience, enabling them to come to a personal conclusion about what my work represents to them. |
